CoreWeave, Inc. CRWV delivered a strong second quarter of 2026, raised its full-year outlook and continued to add massive customer commitments. Revenue reached $2.6 billion, up 112% year over year, with expanding margins and operating leverage. Its revenue backlog climbed to $104.2 billion from $99.4 billion at the end of the first quarter. CoreWeave also secured more than $25 billion in additional customer commitments early in the third quarter, demonstrating that demand for AI computing capacity remains exceptionally strong.
The strongest signal from the earnings report was the increase in management’s expectations. CoreWeave now expects 2026 revenue of $12.4 billion to $13.2 billion compared with its previous range of $12-$13 billion. Adjusted operating income guidance increased to $960 million-$1.15 billion from $900 million-$1.1 billion. It also raised its year-end annualized revenue run-rate target to $18.5-$19.5 billion. Third-quarter revenue is expected to reach $3.45 billion to $3.6 billion, indicating further acceleration of growth during the second half of the year.
Year to date, its shares have climbed 26.2% against the Zacks Internet-Software Market’s fall of 1.8%. The stock has outperformed the Zacks Computer & Technology sector and the S&P 500 Composite, with growth rates of 17.7% and 13.2%, respectively, in the same period. Following second-quarter momentum, CRWV’s shares jumped 20% in pre-market today.

CRWV stock has outperformed tech giant Microsoft MSFT, which has gained 4.2% over the same period, though it still trails Nebius Group N.V. NBIS, another emerging AI infrastructure play, whose shares surged 130.9%.
With enterprise AI adoption accelerating, CoreWeave is positioning itself as a specialized cloud infrastructure provider built specifically for AI workloads. However, the stock’s opportunity comes with equally significant risks, particularly its enormous capital requirements, debt burden and valuation sensitivity.
After the latest earnings report, should investors buy CRWV stock, hold it, or wait for a better entry point?
Infrastructure Scale is a Major Competitive Advantage for CRWV
CoreWeave built a large and growing AI data-center footprint, with more than 1.5 GW of active power across 51 data centers and around 3.7 GW of contracted power. It added roughly 500 MW of capacity, bringing contracted power to about 4.2 GW as of Aug. 11, 2026, supporting AI workloads across regions while leveraging liquid cooling, high-speed interconnects and modular deployments. The company also expanded internationally, including entering the APAC region with 360 MW in Indonesia.
Community engagement and infrastructure investments are key to navigating regulatory challenges. Infrastructure is evolving to support both training and inference workloads seamlessly. The company sees workloads shifting between edge and hyperscale environments, with built-in flexibility. Infrastructure coming off contracts is re-contracted or sold on spot, with flexibility to optimize margins. The success of DDTL 5.5 allows for more short-term contracts, supporting enterprise needs and margin growth.
CoreWeave delivered a strong quarter across infrastructure, software, solutions and customer contracts, while highlighting significant opportunities from recontracting older GPU fleets. Even 2020-era GPUs remain valuable for AI workloads, with some contracts extending through 2029, creating potential for longer use, higher prices and better margins. Despite supply chain challenges, strong supplier relationships and stable ASPs support infrastructure availability and profitability. Managed inference sales jumped from $1 million to $100 million in a quarter, as it aims to maximize margins by using off-contract GPUs and proprietary silicon. Its recent DDTL 5.5 financing also offers flexibility to balance shorter- and longer-term contracts while optimizing capacity and returns.
CoreWeave continues to strengthen its AI platform, adding seven new features and achieving several industry-first milestones. Its platform now supports the full AI development lifecycle, from training and inference to model improvement, with more than 1 billion model training runs tracked. At the same time, adoption is expanding across industries, geographies and workloads, with growing enterprise demand from customers such as Caterpillar, life sciences companies, financial trading firms and government agencies.
Mounting CapEx is the Biggest Risk for CRWV
CoreWeave is spending enormous amounts of capital to capitalize on an AI boom that could eventually normalize. It spent approximately $9.4 billion on capital expenditures in the second quarter and increased its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to $35 billion-$39 billion from the previous $31 billion-$35 billion range. CoreWeave’s aggressive expansion is putting pressure on costs and profitability. Operating expenses reached $2.6 billion, including $165 million in stock-based compensation, as higher active power drove greater cost of revenue and technology and infrastructure spending. Sales and marketing expenses also increased as the company expanded its go-to-market efforts, while G&A rose with higher personnel costs.

The pressure is evident in its $567 million adjusted net loss versus $130 million a year earlier. Interest expense more than doubled to $640 million from $267 million, reflecting rising debt used to fund infrastructure expansion and customer commitments. With more than $32 billion of debt and equity capital secured, leverage remains a concern. Interest expense is expected to climb further to $860 million-$940 million. Meanwhile, persistent global supply-chain complexity adds another challenge, despite efforts to diversify sourcing through partners such as Solidigm.
Intensifying competition from cloud providers and AI infrastructure peers, along with heavy reliance on large customers, creates risks if major deployments are delayed or lost.

Valuation Vulnerabilities
CRWV stock is not cheap, as its Value Style Score of F suggests a stretched valuation at this moment. In terms of Price/Book, CRWV shares are trading at 8.49X, higher than the Internet Software industry’s 5.05X, but it could mean more risk than opportunity. However, if CoreWeave can demonstrate that each additional dollar of revenue generates increasingly attractive operating profits, investors may become more comfortable assigning a premium valuation to the company.

NBIS and MSFT shares are trading at multiples of 6.75X and 8.46X, respectively.
What Does This Mean for CRWV Stock?

The second-quarter update strengthens the long-term growth prospects for CRWV. Customer demand is broadening; infrastructure capacity is expanding rapidly and CoreWeave is developing technologies that could make its platform more valuable to enterprise AI customers. Nevertheless, investors should balance the bullish growth story against valuation, capital intensity, debt levels, customer concentration and the highly competitive nature of AI infrastructure.
For investors who already own CRWV, the report offers a strong reason to hold, provided they are comfortable with substantial volatility and the company’s capital-intensive business model. For new investors, however, chasing a sharp post-earnings move may not be the ideal strategy. A staggered entry could make more sense, particularly because CRWV remains highly sensitive to changes in AI sentiment, interest rates, capital spending expectations and valuation.
Beyond Nvidia: AI’s Second Wave Is Here
The AI revolution has already minted millionaires. But the stocks everyone knows about aren’t likely to keep delivering the biggest profits. AI’s second wave is moving from infrastructure to implementation and these companies are at the forefront of this transition, positioned to become what Amazon and Google were to the internet era.
